Sidney Coffee
Senior Advisor
America's WETLAND Foundation

Sidney Coffee joined the America's WETLAND Foundation as Senior Advisor on the Climate, Energy and the Coast Project in early 2008.  Prior to that, Coffee was Chair of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) of Louisiana and directed coastal policy for the state of Louisiana under Governor Kathleen Blanco. As the Chair of CPRA, Coffee led the creation of the State's Master Plan for Coastal Restoration and Protection and advised the Governor on all manner of coastal issues.

Coffee has worked on Louisiana's coastal issues for more than 12 years, directing the state's efforts on the America's Wetland Campaign and working closely with Louisiana's Congressional delegation in Washington, DC, on funding and authorizing legislation for the state's coastal restoration efforts while serving Governor Mike Foster.

Coffee’s focus with the AW Foundation is the Climate, Energy and the Coast (CEC) Project with initiatives that include the America’s Energy Coast collaborative. The effort brings together industry, national environmental and conservation organizations, academia, and government in the four-state region of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama to reach consensus on solutions to ensure a sound environmental landscape and the nationally critical energy and economic activities that depend upon it.

Other initiatives Coffee is involved with under the CEC project include building regional capacity in science and engineering through public, private partnerships, and developing policy, best practices and technology solutions for delta regions around the world through a series of World Delta Dialogues.

In 2004, Coffee was named “Communicator of the Year” by the National Association of Government Communicators.
