Entry Period
The “Keep Your Eye on the Prize” Student Art, Photo and Essay Contest will begin accepting submissions on October 17, 2011. Entries must be received no later than midnight on January 15, 2012.
Eligibility
The contest is open to Louisiana students enrolled in grades 1-12.
Theme:
Essay: The subject of the entry must be “How can Louisiana adapt to coastal land loss and what changes should be made?”
Art/Photo: The subject of the entry must be “Why should the area known as “America’s WETLAND” be saved?”
The Keep Your Eye on the Prize program is designed to encourage students across the state to consider the significance of Louisiana's coastal wetlands to their own lives by producing essays/poems, artwork or photographs on the topic.

Each student may enter and submit an entry in one or more of the following categories:

There will be 10 winners, two in each age group and two overall winners. The winning students’ class (max of 35 students) will be awarded a $5,000 grant from the America’s WETLAND Conservation Corps. The grant will be used to fund a wetland planting (locations to be announced in 2012), purchase an additional item/educational experience to be chosen by the teacher from a list provided by the America’s WETLAND Foundation, and a school visit by The Estuarians.

Publicity:
By submitting an entry in any category, all participants give unlimited permission to the America’s WETLAND Foundation to use the first name of the participants, their teachers, their schools, as well as the participants’ age and grade for publicity purposes. That consent includes permission to post that information on the Foundation’s website and in media materials.
Rules of Entry and Agreement to Rules
A contestant can only submit one entry per category.
The America’s WETLAND Foundation is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, or invalid entries. Entries are considered invalid if they do not follow the above requirements or if they contain content deemed inappropriate by the America’s WETLAND staff.
By entering the contest, all contestants and their guardians agree that the America’s WETLAND Foundation has the right to display, copy, distribute, or otherwise use the essays, photos and artwork in any way, and in any media, without any fee or other form of compensation.
Submitting any entry also indicates that participants and their guardians fully and unconditionally agree to accept the rules as outlined above and agree to accept the decision of the America’s WETLAND Foundation and the contest judges.
Judging Criteria
Entries must meet all the rules and submission criteria. A panel of judges will evaluate entries. Essay, photos, and artwork will be judged on merit and creativity.
General
The America’s WETLAND Foundation reserves the right to cancel, suspend, and/or modify the contest or its rules at any time. If any fraud or factors beyond the Foundation’s contract impairs the integrity of the contest or events beyond the control of the Foundation make fulfilling the terms of the contest impossible, the contest may be cancelled, suspended and/or modified.
The America’s WETLAND Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it finds the entry to be in violation of the rules of the contest.

Electronic Submission Requirements for Essays, Artwork and Photos:
Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Please visit http://www.americaswetland.com/contestForm.cfm to upload a digital image of your essay, photo or artwork. Before you can upload your artwork, you must complete the online entry form. Please note that all submissions (if they adhere to contest rules), will be posted on http://www.americaswetland.com/contestEntriesIndex.cfm. However, not all the information you provide will be posted with your entry. The website will only display your first name, your grade and your city.
