To become an America's WETLAND "Community Partner," a community should establish a volunteer committee through passage of a resolution that accepts the America's WETLAND "Community Partner" invitation. Then, please complete America's WETLAND "Community Partner" Acceptance Form or call 1-866-4WETLAND and we will be happy to send you a form.

America's WETLAND "Community Partner" committees create action agendas and community plans to complement the state's future coastal vision. Your community plan will serve as a model for public and civic involvement. Your committee will want to take part in all or some of the following activities being planned for the campaign:

  • Attending America's WETLAND "Community Partner" meetings and special events
  • Nominating list of local organizations to become America's WETLAND "Cooperating Organizations"
  • Extending the campaign mark and encouraging participation among local attractions, events, parades, festivals and more
  • Adopting a community participation identity plan to display logos and campaign logo
  • Applying logo to community materials, as well as community facilities and hardware
  • Designating America's WETLAND community resource venues/centers
  • Seeking local sponsors to offer community residents/businesses America's WETLAND participation packages
  • Disseminating school youth programs made available by the campaign
  • Coordinating with neighboring parishes to speak as a region regarding matters affecting land loss
  • Fostering dissemination of information on the plight of our coast and the need to fund/proceed with specific projects

Accepting the America's WETLAND "Community Partner" designation will allow your community to be officially recognized by the state and serve as a point of contact in each community for events and activities of the three-year first phase of the campaign. A toolkit and guide for preparing materials for the campaign will be made available following acceptance to the America's WETLAND "Community Partner" Acceptance Form. This guide will help your local campaign promote activities in your community through media relations, special events, and Internet strategies. Your community will be recognized along with other America's WETLAND "Community Partners" in print materials developed for the campaign. Delegates from your community will also be invited to a host of commemorative events and policy orientation sessions staged to support efforts to protect coastal Louisiana.
